This is the portal site for the West Suffolk Wheelers cycling club. This is the first web project that I was involved in and was the catalyst for my interest in web development.
The very first version of this site was a simple HTML based geocities sites. It quickly moved to a second version, which was also a HTML frame based site. In 2002 the westsuffolkwheelers.co.uk domain was purchased. This third version of the site was based on a CMS written specifically for this project. However, it was also at this time that I started to look at other CMS systems, in order to leverage the benefits from using an open source framework as a base system. The system that fitted the project requirements at that time was Mambo. Shortly after this point, the content was migrated to Joomla (a fork of the Mambo project) and has remained on this system to the present day.
A complete site design was undertaken in late 2009, with a move to Joomla 1.5 and a new design. Several new feature were introduced at this time, including newsletters, calendar, forum and photo galleries.
